Abstract
This Act provides for the right of every citizen to employment. Section 4 upholds the right of every citizen to choose employment as per his or her wish. Section 5 assures right to get unemployment support and section 6 protects from discrimination. Section 8 requires the governments at various levels to conduct employment programmes to provide minimum employment. Section 10 establishes the Employment Service Centre which can be contacted by employers and laborers. Section 17 forms a Steering Committee to operate and look after the protection of the right to employment. Section 20 lists the different support programs for unemployed persons. Section 22 provides for livelihood allowance in case employment cannot be provided to a person.
