Abstract
This Act, consisting of 29 articles divided into nine Chapters, provides for any requirements related to the Registration of Nepalese Ships, including fishing vessels. Any of the following commercial Nepalese ships shall be registered in the ship registration book of the Nepal Ship Office complying with the following issues: a) At least 51% share of the ship is owned by a Nepalese citizen or a body corporate established pursuant to the prevailing Nepal law, b) The principal place of transaction of a body corporate as referred to in Clause (a) is located in Nepal; c) The manager appointed and majority members of the board of directors formed for the operation of the body corporate operating the ship are Nepalese citizens; d) The owners or co-owners of the ship have made an application upon being agreed to register their ship in the ship registration book of the Nepal Ship Office; and e) The foreign registration, if any, of the ship has been cancelled. Fees and procedures for ship registration shall be as prescribed. The Act is divided as follows: Preliminary (Chap. 1); Nationality of Ship (Chap. 2); General Provisions (Chap. 3); Registration Book of Ships (Chap. 4); Certificate of Nationality (Chap. 5); Name and Place of Registration of Ship (Chap. 6); Transfer of Ships (Chap. 7); Revocation of Registration (Chap. 8); and Miscellaneous (Chap. 9).
