Social Security Act, 2075 (Act No. 19 of 2018).

This Act provides for the right to social security for certain citizens of Nepal. Section 3 mentions the citizens who have the right to social security allowance. These include Senior citizens, Indigent, Incapacitated and helpless persons, Helpless single women, Citizens with disabilities, Children and Citizens unable to take care themselves. The criteria for providing allowances is laid down in the Act. Section 10 states that the citizens belonging to the tribes on the verge of extinction shall get social security allowance as specified by the Government of Nepal. Section 12 contains the procedure for application for social security allowance. A person can be eligible for allowance only under one of the categories mentioned in section 3 of the Act. Section 16 requires the local government to issue identity cards to person entitled to such allowance. The Schedule contains the names of the tribes on the verge of extinction.
