Abstract
The goal of this Tiger Conservation Action Plan (2023-2032) is: Conserve the tiger and its habitat by maintaining ecological, economic, and sociocultural integrity and the well-being of the communities.
The Plan seeks to address several emerging threats with the following strategic objectives: 1. Secure tiger habitats and corridors; 2. Combat poaching and illegal trade of tigers and their parts; 3. Reduce human-tiger conflict and enhance economic opportunities for local communities; 4. Strengthen cooperation and collaboration among stakeholders for tiger conservation; 5. Strengthen monitoring of and research on tiger, prey-base, and their habitat and promote outreach. Proposed outputs include: Strategic policies, plans, and monitoring mechanisms developed; Tiger habitats in the core areas, buff er zones and corridors are restored and reclaimed; Impact of linear infrastructures on major tiger habitats and corridors mitigated; Grasslands are scientifi cally managed and maintained; Safe, secure, and perennial wetlands and water resources for tiger and prey ensured; Capacities of wildlife law enforcement agencies enhanced; New and appropriate technology in wildlife crime control deployed; Human-tiger confl ict reduced and maintained below thresholds; Livelihood and employment opportunities of local communities enhanced; Capacity on research and monitoring of tigers enhanced; etc.
