Abstract
The Nauru Economic Infrastructure Strategy and Investment Plan (NIESIP) provides a comprehensive framework for developing critical infrastructure sectors that underpin sustainable economic growth and social well-being. The strategy prioritizes investments in water supply, sanitation and waste management, power infrastructure, transport, and maritime facilities, all of which support food security, public health, and sustainable livelihoods. It recognizes the need to address population growth, strengthen natural resource management, improve service delivery, and enhance resilience to environmental and climate-related challenges through coordinated infrastructure development. The plan also promotes improved connectivity and access to markets through investments in roads, ports, airports, and telecommunications, thereby supporting agricultural development, fisheries, trade, and rural economic opportunities. Furthermore, it emphasizes sustainable financing, life-cycle management of infrastructure assets, and institutional capacity building to ensure long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits.
