Abstract
These Regulations implement provisions of the Fisheries Act 1997 with respect to registration and licensing of fishing vessels and some matters of miscellaneous character.
All small boats used for fishing including game fishing must be registered by the Chief Executive Officer (reg. 3). Fishing requires a fishing licence which may be issued by the Chief Executive Officer (reg. 10). Those wishing to engage in research must propose a research plan to the Board (reg. 12). A licence shall not come into force until the applicable fee has been paid (reg. 19). All foreign vessels operating in fishery waters must have a foreign boat licence (reg. 27). There are detailed provisions relating to game fishing (reg. 31) and fish store licences (reg. 33). The regulations prohibit the use of driftnet fishing in fisheries waters (reg. 42). The use of fish aggregating devices is subject to permission by the Chief Executive Officer (reg. 44). The Regulations are completed by schedules outlining the application forms for permits and licences.
