Sea Boundaries Act (No. 16 of 1997).

This Act makes provisions for the demarcation of the sea boundaries of the Republic of Nauru and the maritime zones established within those boundaries. There are provisions relating to the internal waters (sect. 3) and territorial sea of Nauru (sect. 4). The Act establishes the Exclusive Economic Zone that includes sovereign rights for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources of the area (sect. 6). All areas of seabed and subsoil of the Exclusive Economic Zone are part of the continental shelf of Nauru (sect. 7).
