Abstract
This Act imposes royalties (fees/charges) in respect of quotas allocated to commercial fishermen and fish taken by commercial fishermen under quotas, through regulations (Notices) issued pursuant to section 89 (1)(g) of the Fisheries Act 1983, as amended by the Fisheries Act of 1996.
The 7 sections of this Act are entitled as follows: Short title (1); Royalties payable by quota holders (2); Royalties payable by other commercial fishermen taking fish under quotas (3); Dates for payments of royalties (4); Minister may waive or remit royalty in return for research work (5); Use of conversion factors (6); Validation [of Notices] (7). The first Schedule sets out royalties payable by species or class of fish and the second Schedule sets out conversion factors between weight of processed fish and appropriate greenweight.
