Abstract
These Regulations establish benthic protection areas within New Zealand’s fishery waters.
The Regulations prohibit the use of a dredge within benthic protected areas, prohibit trawling in the upper and lower buffer zones of those areas, and set out rules that apply to persons trawling within the benthic protection areas. The text further enables the chief executive to issue, amend, or revoke a circular specifying the standards and requirements applying to electronic net monitoring systems for use within a benthic protection area.
