Abstract
The Act is organized in two Parts and two schedules. Part 1 provides for the cancellation of the West Coast Accord, clarifying effect of cancellation and establishing that no compensation is payable by the Crown to any person for any loss or damage arising from the enactment or operation of this Part.
Part 2 concerns enabling change of status of West Coast indigenous production forest land. Under this Part the responsible Ministers may declare any land (or part of land) identified in Schedule 1 to be (a) held under the Conservation Act 1987 for conservation purposes and any other purposes specified in the notice; or (b)set apart as a reserve, or added to an existing reserve, and classified under the Reserves Act 1977 for any purposes specified in the notice; or (c)added to a national park under the National Parks Act 1980; or (d)Crown land subject to the Land Act 1948. The Part also regulates effects of change of status.
