Abstract
These regulations provide for replacement of coastal permits for existing marine farms in inappropriate area for existing aquaculture activities (Part 2). Part 3 and 4 concern respectively replacement of coastal permits of existing marine farms with no change in consented species, replacement of coastal permits of existing marine farms with changes to consented species, surface and subsurface structure.
The regulations prescribe specific requirements for seeking the views of tangata whenua on draft coastal permit applications. Where that does not occur, councils can impose more stringent notification requirements and have the ability to more broadly assess the effects of an application on tangata whenua values.
