Abstract
This Order updates the schedules of the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989 that list endangered, threatened, and exploited species. The changes align the schedules with changes that have been made to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Most of the changes come into force on the day after the date on which this order is notified in the Gazette. Some changes relating to the threatened species of sharks listed in Schedule 2 of the Act enter into force on 4 April 2017 or 4 October 2017, depending on when the related changes to the Convention take effect.
The new schedules specify the order to which species belong, update the lists of endangered, threatened and exploited species, and amend terminology.
