Abstract
This Order declares the area of Motunau Island, described in the Schedule, to be a wildlife sanctuary.
The Order prohibits or restricts the right of entry to the sanctuary of any person except for the owners, whose names are recorded in the records of the Maori Land Court, or any person authorized by the Director-General.
The Order further prohibits, unless in possession of a written authorization of the Director-General, to: hunt, kill, take, molest, etc. any living creature in the sanctuary; take, destroy, or disturb the eggs of any living creature; take or interfere with vegetation in the sanctuary; introduce in the sanctuary any living creature, egg, spawn or plant; burn or clear any trees, shrubs, or other plant life; camp; light fires; etc.

Entry into force notes
This Order enters into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
Notes
This Order repeals the Proclamation, issued on 20 July 1964, declaring Motunau (Plate) Island to be a wildlife sanctuary and the Wildlife Sanctuary (Motunau Island) Order, 1967.
