Abstract
This Ministerial Decision is composed of 16 articles. Article 1 defines terms such as public noise, tonal noise, decibel, etc. Article 2 classifies sources of external noise into 4 categories: (a) industrial plants and public works, (b) road traffic, (c) airports and (d) airborne operations of commercial and general aviation. Article 3 defines public noise. For the purposes of this Regulation, the week is separated into 3 time periods: workdays, workday evenings, and holidays/nights. Noise limits for each of these different time periods are given in a table found in Articles 7-10, with each article focusing on a category referred to in Article 2. Further differentiation is made according to location, with acceptable noise limits higher in industrial and commercial zones than in rural residential and recreational zones. Articles 12-16 deal with the taking of sound measurements. Article 13 requires that measurements of noise are made according to the international Standard ISO 1996-1.
