Ministerial Decree No. 79/2006 regulating the underground storage tanks of hydrocarbons and hazardous materials.

This Decree concerns fuel station (existing or under construction) and the storage tanks of hydrocarbons or any other hazardous materials. The Decree gives specifications for the construction, the placement, the maintenance and the monitoring of the tanks. The aim of this Decree is to ensure the prevention and early detection of any toxic release from hydrocarbons storage tanks and to protect the environment and groundwater. The Decree makes provision for the registration of tanks, implementation of environmental requirements, inspection and penalties.
