Ministerial Resolution No. 4/2009 issuing a regulation regulating the use of water desalination units on wells.

This Resolution of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources consisting of 17 articles aims at regulating the use of small desalination units for domestic (individual) use. The document specifies the conditions for the installation of the units, extent of use, extraction scheme of water, and means of disposal of brine. It establishes that no individual can install a unit without a permit form MRMWR and the criteria for brine disposal are met. The Resolution deals also with (i) procedures to register the well-based desalination unit; (ii) procedures for licensing the installation of a new desalination unit; (iii) procedures for licensing basins for disposal of desalination products.
