Ministerial Resolution No. 92/95 determining the level of iodine added to table salt.

This Decree consisting of 4 articles requires that all salt intended for human consumption be fortified with iodine at a regulated level of 15–40 parts per million (ppm), equivalent to 15–40 mg of iodine per kilogram of salt. The specified fortification agent is potassium iodate due to its stability in the country’s hot and humid climate. In Oman, iodization of table salt is mandatory to prevent iodine deficiency disorders. Article 2 prohibits the import of table salt that does not meet the standards specified in the Regulation.
