Abstract
This Law consisting of 41 articles provides for regulating veterinary products in Oman through the establishment of a Registration Committee with the following tasks (i) study and evaluate the applications for the registration of veterinary pharmaceutical companies and their factories and veterinary preparations; (ii) ensure that they are applied to the principles of good practice for drug manufacturing when registering; and (iii) their rejection or cancellation. The Law also gives rule for import, stopping the distribution, preventing the circulation, suspending or canceling the registration, and withdrawing or retrieving the veterinary products.
Veterinary preparations companies need to obtain a license from the competent authority which shall grant a certificate of registration with a duration of 5 years extendable for a similar period. The Law establishes also that (i) it is forbidden to import samples from any veterinary product for research and marketing purposes to any entity without the approval of the competent authority; and (ii) veterinary preparations must be stored in accordance with good storage standards. Article 30 lists the acts considered violation of this Law.
