Royal Decree No.41/2018, amending Appendix I of the Royal Decree No.2/2008 defining the functions of the Ministry of Oil and Gas and approving its organizational apparatus.

This Decree consisting of 3 articles and I Annex aims at amending Annex (1) of Royal Decree No 2/2008 and replaces it with a new Annex attached to this Decree. The attached Annex consists of 14 points where the competences related to the energy sector of the Ministry of Oil and Gas are listed. Among the others, the Ministry shall (i) implement the national policy on the energy sector, and develop its own strategies; (ii) develop and implement studies, plans and policies to optimize the use of energy resources; (iii) develop and manage the energy sector in line with the requirements of the Sultanate; (iv) manage and supervise the necessary surveys of oil and gas resources, and the economic studies necessary for any projects related to their exploration and exploitation; (v) supervise all activities related to the exploration and production of oil and gas by companies that have concession contracts; and (vi) study the global oil and gas markets.
