Tenth Five-Year Plan for Health Development (2021-2025).

This Tenth five-year Plan for Health Development is a nationwide sectoral document aiming at achieving the strategic goals of the health priority that were defined by the Oman Vision 2040. One of the most important priorities is to devote efforts to a society that enjoys sustainable health with the participation of all health sectors and the promotion of decentralization of health services. The document set out the following Strategic Obejectives (i) healthy, sustainable society in which the culture of “health is the responsibility of all” is entrenched and protected from dangers and threats to health, including the promotion of the health of girls and women of reproductive and post-reproductive age, a safer motherhood, high quality of preventive and curative services; (ii) a decentralized, quality, transparent, fair and accountable health system, by strengthening the legal work at all levels, developing the health system observatory as well as the planning process, and applying international standards for the design and implementation of health institution buildings; (iii) diversified and sustainable sources of financing that includes coverage by private health insurance, promotion and investment in the sector, research and feasibility studies; (iv) qualified and pioneering national cadres and capabilities in scientific research and health innovation; (v) high quality medical systems and services, and preventive and curative health care at all levels, increasing the specialized services, as well as the services provided by blood banks, implementing pharmaceutical safety programs for health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health, raising the professional competence of pharmacists, and facilitating investment procedures in the field of local industries for human medicines, herbal medicines, medical devices and supplies.
