Animal Disease and Control Act 1952.

This Act makes provision with respect to the prevention and control of diseases affecting animals. The Minister may, by notice in the National Gazette, appoint an officer to be the Chief Stock Inspector, who shall, subject to directions of the Minister, be responsible for the administration of this Act (sect. 2). The Chief Stock Inspector may appoint Inspectors, the powers of which are defined in section 4. Inspectors may examine animals and order holders of animals or other persons to carry out such actions as specified in section 4. The Minister may, by notice in the National Gazette, declare a disease or pest affecting animals to be a disease for the purposes of this Act (sect. 6) or to be a notifiable diseases pursuant to section 7, and may declare a Disease Area under section 9. Existence of notifiable diseases shall be reported immediately to an Inspector who may order confinement of diseased animals. Noxious animals, declared as such by the Minister under section 10 shall not be imported and kept (sects. 13 and 14).
