Abstract
This Act makes several amendments in the principal Act. It amends: Section 10 as regards the membership of the National Forest Board; Section 12 relating to the election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the National Forest Board; Section 14 on the revocation of membership; Section 19 regarding the delegation of powers by the Minister to the Board and by the Board to the Managing Director; Section 55 on the types of land on which forest industry activities may be permitted; Section 64 as regards forest development project to be an extension of one of the existing approved timber permit operations; Section 87 relating to forest clearing; Section 98 about the bond for a timber permit, timber authority, licence, forest clearing authority or an authority to carry out an agricultural or other land use development or roadline development.
Part Ill of the Principal Act is amended in Subdivision 8.5.D by inserting new subsections 90A on the application for a large scale conversion of forest to agricultural or other land use; 90B on the evaluation of application for agricultural or other land use; 90C on the application for a large scale conversion of forest to road; 90D on the evaluation of application for road; 90E regarding the power of the Ministry to cancel authority to carry out an agricultural or other land use, forest clearing authority or authority to carry out a roadline development granted under Sections 90A to 90D.
Furthermore, the Principal Act is amended: in Division III by inserting new subsection 103A as regards the establishment of a Public Register; and in Part X by inserting Section 144 validating any existing timber authority issued and in force before the coming into operation of Section 90D(23).
