Abstract
This Act makes several amendments in the principal Act. It amends: Section 2 of by inserting the definitions of the Chairman of the Provincial Forest Committee and forest plantation; Section 10 as regards the membership of the National Forest Board; Section 11 on the appointment of alternate members; Section 12 relating to the election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the National Forest Board; Section 14 on the terms and conditions for the revocation of membership; Section 20 regarding the obligation of the Board to report annually; Section 22 on the membership of Provincial Forest Management Committee; Section 25 relating to the procedures for suspension of the Provincial Forest Management Committee; Section 30 on the functions of the Provincial Forest Management Committee; Section 32 regarding the establishment of advisory or other committees; Sections 47 and 49 on the review and approval procedures of national and provincial forest plans; Section 57 about obtaining consent of customary owners to forest management agreement; Section 58 as regards other forestry related land use options to be specified in a forest management agreement; Sections 62 and 64 about development options study; Section 85 on the suspension of forestry clearing authorities under Section 90B(22) and 90D(22) of the principal Act; Section 87 relating to granting timber authority for the purpose of harvesting a forest plantation including a State owned forest plantation; Section 88 about the obligations of the holder of a forest plantation timber authority; Section 89 on the procedures of the application evaluted by the Provincial Forest Management Committee; Section 112 on the terms and conditions for the cancellation of registration; Section 122 on offences and penalties; Section 137 on the extension of timber permit in accordance with the term of a timber rights purchase agreement.
