Oil and Gas Regulation, 2002.

This Regulation implements provisions of the Oil and Gas Act 1998 and makes provision for a wide variety of matters relative to exploration for and exploitation of oil and gas resources in Papua New Guinea including matters relative to environmental protection.
The Regulation defines duties of licencees and in particular of the Person in Charge appointed by the licensee pursuant to this Regulation. The Director may order the Person in Charge to carry out tests in order to detect waste or contamination. The Regulation concerns further, among other things, pollution by oil, safety of operations, disposal of waste, storage of dangerous substances, drilling and offshore operations. The Regulation also prescribes offences.
