Abstract
This Act makes provision for the control of the industry of manufacture of and trade in spices as specified in this Act.
For this purpose, the Papua New Guinea Spice Industry Board is established as a body corporate. The Board shall: (a) control and regulate the processing, marketing and export of spices; (b) register buyers, processors and exporters of all or any of the spices; and (c) carry out other functions assigned to the Board by this Act. For the purposes of the administration of the Board, a levy is prescribed on all spices intended for export. The Minister may, by Notice in the National Gazette, appoint persons to be Spice Inspectors for the purposes of this Act. The Act further provides for the establishment of a Spice Stabilization Fund, powers of inspectors, registration of buyers and appeal against decisions of the Board and defines offences.
