Agreement No. 14436 on Fisheries Between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, Considering the continuity of their territorial seas and the importance of fish in the diet of their peoples, Noting that cooperation between the Philippines and Indonesia in the development of their fishing industries would be beneficial to both countries, Consonant with the Basic Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two Governments signed on the 8th day of August, 1974, and subject to each country's laws, rules, and regulations, hereby agree to the following: 1. Both Governments shall promote mutual cooperation in the development of the fishing industries of both countries pursuant to their respective investment and other laws; 2. Both Governments shall promote mutual consultation and exchange of technical assistance and research findings on all phases of fisheries, including utilization of by-products; 3. Both Governments shall continue discussions through the agencies designated in the Basic Agreement to explore other means of promoting further cooperation in the field of fishing industry in both countries. Both Governments agree to grant to nationals or legal entities of the other country treatment in trade, investments and other economic activities relative to fishing industries no less favourable than that accorded to any other country, with due regard to their respective bilateral and multilateral commitments. This Agreement shall not preclude the consideration by either Government of preferential arrangements on trade and other economic activities relative to fishing industries between and or among ASEAN countries.
