Abstract
This Order, consisting of eight Sections and two Appendices, establishes the Guidelines on Surveillance, Monitoring, Prevention, Control and Reporting of Forest Pests. Pursuant to Sec. 37 of Presidential Decree No. 705, known as the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, the following guidelines on surveillance, monitoring, prevention, control and reporting of forest pests are hereby promulgated. The policy of the State ensures the sustainable use, development, management and conservation of the country's forest resources. The government, through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), promotes the use of high quality planting materials in the establishment of tree plantations, tree farms, agro-forestry and other forestation activities for biodiversity conservation and sustainable production, and supply of wood and other forest products in the country. The guidelines shall cover the surveillance, monitoring, prevention, control and reporting of pests in natural forests, plantations, agroforestry areas, mining areas, protected areas, ancestral lands and private forest lands. Appendices establish specific procedures to monitor forest pests through DENR Forest Pests Surveillance Field Forms.
