Abstract
This Administrative Order provides for the establishment of a National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS), which shall encompass biologically important public lands and ancestral domains that are habitats of rare and endangered species of plants and animals, bio-geographic zones and related ecosystems all of which designated as protected areas.
The Administrative Order sets out the processes by which the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and other concerned institutions will establish, administer, manage, etc. protected areas.
The Administrative Order further provides for: establishment and extent of the NIPAS; establishment and management of buffer zones; preparation of management plans for each protected area; administration and management of NIPAS; establishment of Protected Area Management Boards for each protected area; establishment of an Integrated Protected Areas Fund; acts prohibited within protected areas; penalties; etc.
