Abstract
This Act aims for ensuring the country's energy security and independency by reducing reliance on imported fuel for the transportation sector; promoting and supporting innovation in clean, sustainable, and efficient energy; protecting the health and well-being of the people from the hazards of pollution and the greenhouse effect; promoting industrialization and generating employment opportunities. Chapter 2 provides for formulating regulations by the government to facilitate the creation of an enabling environment for competitive, equitable, and non-discriminatory private sector participation. Chapter 3 provides for increasing the market share for the electronic vehicle industry, allocating charging stations, facilitating grant of license and permits, and dedicating parking slots to electronic vehicles. Chapter 4 of the text provides for fiscal incentives to manufacturers, and electronic vehicle users. The Act contains 33 Articles divided into 5 Chapters.
