Abstract
Section 2 of Republic Act (RA) No. 7581 or the "Price Act," as amended by RA No. 10623, declares it a policy of the State to provide effective and sufficient protection to consumers against hoarding, profiteering and cartels with respect to the supply, distribution, marketing and pricing of goods during periods of calamity, emergency and widespread illegal price manipulation. Proclamation No. 1021 (s. 2020) extended the State of Calamity throughout the country due to COVID-19 for a period of one (1) year from 13 September 2020 or up to 12 September 2021.
This Executive Order provides for the mandated price ceiling for selected pork and chicken products to be implemented in the National Capital Region.
