Abstract
This Act declares Mount Apo to be a protected area under the category of natural park and its peripheral areas to be buffer zones to ensure the protection and conservation of biological resources and those of the indigenous peoples and communities residing therein. The protected area shall be known as the Mt. Apo Natural Park and the boundaries of the areas are specified in the text.
For the protection and preservation of the biodiversity of Mt. Apo Natural Park a management plan shall be prepared by the Protected Area Superintendent in coordination with local communities, local government units, etc.
The Act provides for the establishment of a Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) and defines its internal composition and its powers and functions.
The Act further provides for: establishment of the Executive Committee of the PAMB; establishment of a Protected Area Superintendent Office; rights of indigenous cultural communities to their ancestral lands and domains and rights of tenured migrants within the natural park; acts prohibited within the natural park; establishment of a Mount Apo Protected Area Fund; penalties; etc.
