Abstract
This Act declares Mount’s Banahaw and San Cristobal to be protected areas under the category of protected landscapes and ensures the protection and conservation of these areas, particularly the forests and their rich biodiversity. Boundaries of the Mount’s Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape (MBSCPL) are specified in the text. Buffer zones surrounding the MBSCPL shall be established to provide an extra layer of protection around the area.
The Act provides for the establishment of a Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) which shall have jurisdiction, power and authority over the MBSCPL for all matters that may affect biodiversity conservation, protection and sustainable development. The Act defines the PAMB internal organization and its powers and functions.
The Act further provides for: establishment of a Protected Area Superintendent Office to be in charge of the management, protection and administration of the MBSCPL; establishment of a Mount’s Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape Fund; restrictions on the exploration and exploitation or utilization of renewable and nonrenewable resources; prohibited acts and penalties; etc.
