Abstract
The Plan focuses on addressing marine pollution through various strategies aimed at minimizing waste generation and improving waste management. The text provides for implementing measures to reduce the production and leakage of plastics and other waste materials into waterways and coastal areas; and outlines provisions for strengthening waste collection, segregation, recycling, and disposal systems, especially in coastal and riverine communities. The Plan further lays out for public awareness and education to raise awareness about the impacts of marine litter and encouraging behavioural change among citizens, businesses, and industries. The Plan emphasises on fostering multi-sector partnerships among government agencies, local communities, industries, and international organizations to coordinate efforts in tackling marine litter. The text consists of 7 Parts.
