Abstract
This Act provides for the adoption of internationally accepted measures which impose strict liability for oil pollution damage in order to protect Philippine’s marine wealth in its archipelagic waters, territorial sea and exclusive economic zones.
The Act makes provision for the following matters: strict liability for oil pollution damage; systems of limitation of liability; systems of compulsory insurance and certification; contributions to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund; action for compensation; penalties; etc.
