Abstract
The Act promotes gender equality and reinforces the protection of women’s rights in professional settings across Gilgit-Baltistan. The Act mandates all organizations to adopt a code of conduct, form inquiry committees, and provide mechanisms for confidential complaint handling. The Act outlines procedures for holding inquiry and defines minor and major penalties. The text further provides that the Ombudsman may impose minor or major penalties when deciding on complaints of workplace harassment. Employers are legally responsible for implementing the Act by adopting a Code of Conduct, forming an inquiry committee, displaying the Code publicly, and may face fines in case of non-compliance. The Act consists of 13 Articles and one Schedule on Code of Conduct for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace.
