Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan and for its composition.
Functions of the Institute shall include: to promote the exploration of hydrocarbon; to carry out research, studies, survey to promote optimum exploitation; to develop and promote the use of clean, economic and alterantive fuels; to study and recommend measures for controlling environmental pollution related to hydrocarbon operations; to ensure quality, standards and specification for crude petroleum, petroleum products and L.P.G. It also provides for the constitution of a Board of Governor (BOG), for its functions and powers, for methodology for meeting of the Board of Governors and submission of its reports, etc.
The Act further provides for the funds of the Institute, and for the dissolution of the former institute and its repeal established in 1984 through a Resolution.
