Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Act, 2023 (Sindh Act No. XVIII of 2023).

This Act requires the Government to establish the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation as a body corporate and defines its functions and makes administrative arrangements. The Corporation shall be governed by a Board. The Act also: defines the role and responsibilities for achieving the purposes of this Act; requires a Water and Sewerage Fund to be established; regulates the public supply if water and the providing of sewerage services; requires the Corporation to establish a research center; requires the government to establish as Water and Sewerage Tribunal; defines offences.
The Corporation shall be responsible for planning and supply of water. execution of bulk production, supply and distribution of potable water schemes in accordance with the provisions of this Act and shall ensure that the water supplied is duly filtered, treated, tested and fit for human consumption. he Corporation shall provide retail distribution within the service delivery area, excluding the areas receiving water supply through a Public-Private Partnership, a CBO, NGO or an autonomous or constituent body. The Corporation shall supply bulk water to each autonomous or constituent body at such rates and subject to such terms and conditions as contained in the relevant memorandum of understanding or water supply agreement. The Corporation shall establish mechanisms for the facilitation of Public-Private partnerships. water way only be supplied, or sewerage services provided under a licence granted by the Corporation. The Corporation shall prepare and update e comprehensive Water & Sewerage Master Plan and execute such infrastructure schemes with specified time limits as emanate from the Master Plan.
