Abstract
Whereas the Lahore Canal and the green belts on both sides of it, is a public trust and is part of the heritage of the city of Lahore, the Act makes provisions for the conservation of the Lahore Canal and other specific areas thereof as a heritage park, by preserving its flora and fauna. In order to maintain its environment, the Government shall appoint a Heritage Park Advisory Committee to regulate, manage, plan and raise funds aimed to these conservation measures – as well as to ensure compliance with this Act’s regulations. It is prohibited to fish, hunt, pollute, or cause any environmental damage to this particular area. Non-compliance with this Act shall be punished with 1 to 5 years’ imprisonment or/and with a 30 000 to 50 000 Rupees fine.
