Abstract
This Act prescribes rules for the regulation and inspection of mines.
The Act consists of 9 Chapters divided into 49 sections: Preliminary (I); Inspectors (II); Mining Boards and Committee (III); Mining operations and management of mines (IV); Provisions as to health and safety (V); Hours and limitation of employment (VI); Regulations, rules and bye-laws (VII); Penalties and procedure (VIII); Miscellaneous (IX). The Government may designate a technically qualified person to be the Chief Inspector of Mines for the whole of Pakistan or for the Province. Functions and duties of the Chief Inspector are outlined in sections 5-9A. The Government may establish a Mining Board as provided for in Chapter III. The owner, agent or manager of a mine shall give a notice to the Chief Inspector of Mines before commencing mining operations.
