Abstract
The Act establishes legal measures to prevent and penalize acts of cruelty toward animals. It prescribes various penalties for mistreatment, neglect, or the sale of animals killed with unnecessary cruelty. The Act defiens various penalties including penalty for overloading animals, practicing phooka, penalty for being in possession of the skin of a goat killed with unnecessary cruelty, and employing anywhere animals unfit for labour. The Act emphasizes humane treatment, care, and proper management of animals to ensure their welfare. It also grants authorities special powers of search and seizure to investigate and prevent offences related to animal cruelty. The text consists of 22 Articles.
