Abstract
This Ordinance regulates inland and marine fishing in the waters of the province of the Punjab.
The Ordinance provides for: the appointment of Inspectors of Fisheries by the Government; a lease to catch fish in any water other than private water and the issuance of fishing permits granted by the lessees; prohibition of fishing methods; and minimum size of fish species as specified in the First Schedule.
The Ordinance further provides for the power of the Government to declare any water to be a fish sanctuary.
In addition, the Ordinance contains provisions concerning the enforcement of this legislation and offences and penalties.
