Abstract
The Act is aiming to provide high-need communities with sustainable access to fortified wheat flour and play a vital role in reducing rates of anaemia, neural tube defects, and deficiencies of vitamins. The Act requires that an importer or a manufacturer of food to fortify the food at the time of import or manufacture before trading the food. Chapter III of the text provides for inspection by a Food Safety Officer who may investigate any place or site where food is manufactured, stored, sold and transported. Chapter IV provides for sampling and laboratories analysis of a sample of food received from Food Safety Officer. Chapter 5 outlines penalties and procedures in the cases that the food is not sufficiently fortified. The Act is designed in 6 Chapters containing 42 Articles and one Schedule.
