Abstract
This Act establishes a comprehensive national regulatory framework aimed at eliminating asbestos production, restricting its use, and protecting public health and the environment. It defines asbestos types, incorporates relevant EU legislation into national law, and creates limited exemptions for specific industrial uses until asbestos‑free substitutes become available. The Act mandates the adoption of detailed regulations on the safe handling, removal, transport, and labeling of asbestos‑containing products, as well as occupational health and safety requirements. It provides compensation mechanisms and pre‑retirement benefits for workers exposed to asbestos, introduces preventive medical monitoring through health record booklets, and grants additional health‑related entitlements to employees of asbestos‑processing facilities.
