Abstract
This Act lays down provisions on various aspects of navigation in inland waters as defined in the Water Act (inland waterways). The Act establishes: authorities of inland waters shipping and their tasks; conditions of shipping; requirements for the safety of shipping; proceedings in case of shipping accidents. Only registered vessels can be used for navigation in inland waters. The Act is composed of the following Sections: General provisions (Sec. 1); Authorities of inland waters shipping (Sec. 2); Conditions of shipping (Sec. 3); Adminitrative register and measurement of vessels (Sec. 4); Safety of shipping (Sec. 5); Inland waterways (Sec. 6); River Information Services (Sec. 6a); Pilotage (Sec. 7); Shipping accidents (Sec. 8); Criminal provisions (Sec. 9); Penalties (Sec. 9a); Changes in provisions in force (Sec. 10). Transitional and final provisions (Sec. 11). The Annex specifies the fees to be paid for shipping activities.
