Abstract
This Law consisting of 141 articles divided into ten Chapters aims to regulate the work of all workers and employers in Palestine except government and local employees, household servants pending regulation by the Minister, and the employer's immediate family members. The Law considers work a right for each citizen who is capable of working. Article 5 establishes that both workers and employers shall have the right to establish union organisations on professional basis with the aim of supporting their interests and defending their rights. The main chapters of the Law concern (i) employment, training and occupational guidance; (ii) individual work contracts and collective labour relations; (iii) settlement of labour disputes; (iv) strike and closure, with Article 66 that guarantees the workers’ right to strike in order for them to defend their interests; (iv) working hours, weekly holiday, and leaves; (v) wages; (vi) safety and health; (vi) work of minors and women; (vii) inspections; (viii) work injuries and occupational diseases; (ix) penalties. It is included an Annex on occupational diseases.
