Abstract
This Law consisting of 8 articles amends the Consumer Protection Law of 2005 by adding, among the Definitions, the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of National Economy. Its functions are explained in article 14 where it is empowered of issuing a decision to inspect the product and to approve its circulation, import, export, display, withdrawal, or destruction if the damage is the only way to reduce the risk, whenever there are signs of a risk in a particular product, upon the request of the competent minister. While article 31 is amended as follows "In the event of displaying or selling of spoiled or damaged food commodities, the department may issue a decision to close the commercial store or the establishment for a period not exceeding thirty days". Other amendments regard penalties provided for articles 27, 29, and 32 of the Law of 2005.
