Abstract
This Decree-Law establishes the rules governing the use of sewage sludge on agricultural land, transposing Council Directive No. 86/278/EC of 12 June into national law in order to avoid harmful effects on humans, water, soil, vegetation and animals and to promote its correct use. This Decree-Law applies to the use of sewage sludge on agricultural land from domestic, urban and agri-livestock wastewater treatment plants, septic tanks or others of similar composition. The use of sludge on agricultural land is subject to licensing by the regional directorate of agriculture with territorial jurisdiction.
