Decree-Law No. 18/2014 approving the Ministry of Agriculture and Sea (MAM).

This Decree-Law, consisting of 4 Chapters and 1 Annex, approves the Ministry of of Agriculture and Sea (MAM). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry, whose mission is to: define, coordinate and implement the agricultural, food-crop, forestry, rural development exploration and enhancement of marine resources as well as ensuring planning and coordinating the implementation of National and EU funds in these areas. Its main objective are: to conceive, develop, coordinate and execute policies in areas, focused on environmental, economic and social sustainability; to promote competitiveness and sustainability of agriculture and maritime sectors, as well as the revitalization of rural areas, by supporting the modernization, entrepreneurship, to protect, enhance and promote the use of land and marine resources and the development of the natural heritage, considering the economic, environmental, social and cultural aspects, to develop, stimulate and support scientific research and technological development, planning policies and management of marine zones, etc.
