Decree-Law No. 52/85 prescribing rules for the carrying out of activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Portugal.

The object of this Decree-Law is to define those marine areas over which Portugal exercises sovereign rights; general rules governing the management, conservation and exploitation of living resources; information systems and services; the inspection, official control over, and monitoring of, fishing vessel activity, and the permits required for prospecting and scientific research activities.
The marine areas referred to in the previous paragraph shall comprise the territorial sea, inland waters and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EC) in which Portugal exercises sovereign rights over resources and, by that token, over any activities related to the surveying and economic exploitation of that zone.
