Decree-Law No. 6/2026 creating the Young Fishers' Statute and defining the respective recognition procedure.

This Decree-Law creates the Young Fishers' Statute aimed to pursue the following objectives: a) promote the establishment and retention of young people in professional fishing and aquaculture, with a view to boosting the economy and population and creating jobs; b) contribute to the diversification of the regional economic base by promoting innovation, the creation of new businesses and investment in coastal, lagoon and riverside areas; c) enhance and improve the skills of young fishers and fish farmers, promoting their integration into new marketing channels and encouraging innovative and environmentally sustainable practices; d) promote gender equality in the activities and benefits arising from the Statute.
